This Week's Goals & an update on last week

We had a blast on a family outing to the local museum center.
Happy Monday everyone!  Hope that you enjoyed a lovely weekend filled with lots of love.  My weekend was filled with fun, love, and snow!  I'm looking forward to spending some time outdoors later this afternoon once our morning work is finished.

Last Week's Goals

Marriage, Mothering, & Family
1.  Enjoy a special family activity this week.  I'm leaving it up to the happy hubby to decide.  We had a lovely time at the local natural history museum.
2.  Attend two or three appointments with Evangeline this week.  (I'm hoping that I don't have to actually attend one of the appointments and I can just speak to the physician on the telephone.)
3.  Spend time making Valentine's day cards with the children.
4.  Enjoy special one on one time with both children this week.  Eli and I enjoyed a sweet afternoon time together building Smart Links.  I planned a fun mommy, daughter evening with Eva while Eli went visiting with Daddy.  It totally didn't work.  She was a crab for all two hours and didn't want to do anything fun.  How's that for keeping my goals super real this week?
5.  Write a love letter to my husband or do something thoughtful for him.  I sewed him a Star Wars pillowcase.  No I am not joking!

Homemaking
6.  Research various quilt patterns and decide which pattern I intend to use for a quilt for Eli.  I'm also hoping to make a trip to Joann Fabrics in the next week to look for fabric. My mom and I had such a sweet time together spending hours at the fabric store.  I did in fact commit to making a quilt for Eli.  Eek!

Personal
7.  Catch up with a friend on the telephone. Nope sometimes it just doesn't happen.
8.  Begin a new book.  I'm kind of stumped right now as to what to read next.  Does that ever happen to you?  I absolutely love reading but nothing is jumping out at me.    I started reading Stacy Schiff's The Witches.

Ministry & Friendships
9.  Begin a letter to a friend who serves as an international missionary.  Nope.  Moving this to next week.
10.  Wrap and mail a baby gift to a friend who lives out of state.  It should reach my sweet friend any day soon.  Super thankful for a kind husband who mailed it for me!

Here are the goals that I hope to accomplish this week:

Marriage, Mothering, & Family
1.  Attend three therapy appointments for Evangeline this week.
2.  Take the happy hubby out on a date that I plan this week (weather & babysitter permitting).
3.  Enjoy an afternoon playing in the snow with the kids.
4.  Begin a new read aloud with the children.  Do you have any suggestions?

Homemaking
5.  Start compiling all of our information for our taxes.
6.  Prep all of my fabric and spend an hour cutting out fabric for Eli's quilt.  (All of the fabric has to be washed and dried before it can be sewn.)

Personal
7.  Read 100 pages of The Witches.

Ministry & Friendships
8.  Spend time catching up with a friend.
9.  Begin writing that letter to my friend who serves as a missionary overseas.

Other:
10.  Spend an afternoon helping my grandmother.

What goals do you have for this week?  Will the weather have an impact on any of your goals?

August Reads

None Like Him: 10 Ways God is Different From Us by Jen Wilkin :  I'm quickly becoming quite the fan of Mrs. Jen Wilkin.  I've been working through her 1 Peter Bible Study this summer and I absolutely loved reading through this book on the attributes of God.  I found myself reminded of so many things and almost felt a sense of relief as I contemplated what God is like.  This book was a delight to read.  I love that there is now a book on God's attributes written especially for women.  Pure awesomeness!  I highly recommend this book for both new believers and those with years of experience.  I also think it would make a great book club book. The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian: This book is one that I have been wanting to read for years and I just never got around to it.  I am so glad that I finally took the time to read and pray through this book!  What better gift could I give my husband the past month than to spend time earnestly praying for him through a

Our First Tent Camping Experience

Earlier in June we embarked on a new adventure.  TENT CAMPING!   Two summers ago we enjoyed a wonderful time camping in a borrowed pop-up camper but this was our first experience sleeping in a tent as a family.  We loaded up our very full van and headed to Land Between the Lakes in Western Kentucky for a new adventure.  It was wonderful.   One of the neatest aspects of our trip was the fact that Nina & Poppy Steve (Brandon's parents) were able to meet up with us!  (They live a good 10 hours away from us so this was a real treat.)  We had so much spending time with them.  We stayed at  Hillman Ferry Campground  and I would definitely stay there again.   Hillman Ferry Campground has a lovely beach with an area roped off for swimming.  The kids enjoyed playing in the sand and I even took them swimming in the lake.  I have been swimming many times in a lake but I think this was my children's first real time swimming in a lake.  (The closest lake to us no longer

This Week's Goals

We have been so blessed to fill our August with such fun family memories. In the picture above we enjoyed a day trip to the Columbus Zoo where we got to get up close with some kangaroos!   August has been so busy for our family that I've neglected to share my goals the past few weeks.  We've been squeezing in lots of summer fun as we transition back to school days.  I also began teaching fall piano lessons.  Here are a few of my goals for this upcoming week.      This Week's Goals Marriage, Mothering, & Family 1.  Eli is playing flag football this fall!  I'm excited to attend his game on Saturday. 2.  Eva has a therapy appointment this week.  I am so thankful for all of the incredible progress that she has made over the past year.   3.  Take both children to the park to play this week.   Homemaking 4.  Work on plans for Disney.  I need to work on our packing list and make some reservations.  I also need to purchase a number of items before we lea
