This Week's Goals & Recap

Since we ended up not having therapy one afternoon we enjoyed a great last minute trip to the museum center!

Happy Monday everyone!  Hope your day is off to a great start.  We enjoyed a glorious weekend filled with a Family Life Weekend to Remember conference, time spent with family, and enjoying the beautiful weather.  This morning has totally felt like a Monday!  Our electric went off in the night and stayed off until almost ten o'clock this morning.  I'm thankful it is back on now and we have chosen joy today.  Here's what our week looks like!

Last Week's Goals
Marriage, Mothering, & Family
1.  Attend a wonderful date with the happy hubby.  We had a glorious time spending the weekend together at a Family Life Weekend to Remember in Cincinnati!  If you haven't attended a Weekend to Remember I would highly recommend it.  We had a wonderful time.  We also squeezed in a quick trip to Newport Aquarium, dinner at Newport on the Levee, and a visit to the Omnimax to watch the new National Parks movie.
2.  Take the children on a nature walk one afternoon.  The kids and I  had a great time walking along the creek last week.  The current was moving so fast!
3.  Enjoy one (that's right only one) therapy appointment with Evangeline this week!  Eek!  I'm super pumped that we only have one appointment this week.  That means that we should have at least one or two days when we won't be leaving our home at all.  Our therapist was sick so we didn't attend any therapy sessions last week.  We ended up heading to the local museum center.

Homemaking
4.  Write two letters about medical bills that were higher than expected.  I'm requesting an itemized bill from the billing office where I had some labs drawn.  Oh the fun grown up things you get to do!
5.  Spend an hour working on Eli's quilt  I had a nice time working on Eli's quilt this week.

Personal
6.  Spend some time playing the piano five days this week.  I practice every week but I would like to dive into a more regular practice time again.  (For those of you who also play an instrument, when do you sneak in practice time?)  I would also like to jump back into some classical arrangements that I haven't enjoyed in quite some time.  I think I ended up only practicing about three days since we were away for the weekend.  I did spend some time working on some Bach arrangements.
7.  Finish Jesus: Experiencing His Touch by Kay Arthur.  I'm hoping to finish this by Wednesday so I can pass it along to a friend at church.  I will complete this study this week!
8.  Read The Bee Friendly Garden by Kate Frey & Gretchen LeBuhn.  I am almost finished with the book and I feel very encouraged to work harder on planting varieties that attract bees.

Ministry & Friendships
9.  Spend an hour catching up on some much needed correspondence.  I wrote a few thank you notes and sent a number of Get Well Cards.  I also had the children make cards for my grandmother who recently had surgery.

Other:
10.  Spend time organizing materials and forms for my piano business.  I have a new piano student starting tomorrow so this felt like the perfect time.

This Week's Goals
Marriage, Mothering, & Family
1.  Attend one or two therapy appointments with Evangeline.  (One of Eva's therapists is sick today so I'm not sure if we will be able to make up the appointment or not.)
2.  Enjoy an at home date night to celebrate our dating anniversary this evening!  We started dating on Leap Day 8 years ago so today is actually our "2 year dating anniversary" since it only comes around every 4 years!
3.  Take the kids swimming at our local gym or enjoy another such outing.

Homemaking
4.  Finish building the float bed where I start seeds for our garden.  This year I am hoping to have a nice large garden.  My sweet sister Bekah, Elijah, and I built most of it this weekend but I still need to add plastic, the heater, and most importantly I need to start planting seeds!  I will be spending a lot of time this week planning my garden and preparing to order seeds.
5.  Spend at least an hour sewing on Eli's quilt.  I would also like to start sewing a dress for Evangeline using Simplicity 1449 this week.

Personal
6.  Attend a check up one afternoon.
7.  Enjoy a fun crochet night with some friends.  I am about halfway finished with a cowl for myself.  I would also like to begin working on a baby gift for a friend.
8. Finish reading Side by Side: Walking with Others in Wisdom and Love by Edward Welch.

Ministry & Friendships
9.  Take a meal to a friend who recently broke her leg and had surgery.

Other
10.  Write three blog posts this week.

What goals do you have for this week?  Are you planning to plant a garden this spring?

August Reads

None Like Him: 10 Ways God is Different From Us by Jen Wilkin :  I'm quickly becoming quite the fan of Mrs. Jen Wilkin.  I've been working through her 1 Peter Bible Study this summer and I absolutely loved reading through this book on the attributes of God.  I found myself reminded of so many things and almost felt a sense of relief as I contemplated what God is like.  This book was a delight to read.  I love that there is now a book on God's attributes written especially for women.  Pure awesomeness!  I highly recommend this book for both new believers and those with years of experience.  I also think it would make a great book club book. The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian: This book is one that I have been wanting to read for years and I just never got around to it.  I am so glad that I finally took the time to read and pray through this book!  What better gift could I give my husband the past month than to spend time earnestly praying for him through a

Our First Tent Camping Experience

Earlier in June we embarked on a new adventure.  TENT CAMPING!   Two summers ago we enjoyed a wonderful time camping in a borrowed pop-up camper but this was our first experience sleeping in a tent as a family.  We loaded up our very full van and headed to Land Between the Lakes in Western Kentucky for a new adventure.  It was wonderful.   One of the neatest aspects of our trip was the fact that Nina & Poppy Steve (Brandon's parents) were able to meet up with us!  (They live a good 10 hours away from us so this was a real treat.)  We had so much spending time with them.  We stayed at  Hillman Ferry Campground  and I would definitely stay there again.   Hillman Ferry Campground has a lovely beach with an area roped off for swimming.  The kids enjoyed playing in the sand and I even took them swimming in the lake.  I have been swimming many times in a lake but I think this was my children's first real time swimming in a lake.  (The closest lake to us no longer

This Week's Goals

We have been so blessed to fill our August with such fun family memories. In the picture above we enjoyed a day trip to the Columbus Zoo where we got to get up close with some kangaroos!   August has been so busy for our family that I've neglected to share my goals the past few weeks.  We've been squeezing in lots of summer fun as we transition back to school days.  I also began teaching fall piano lessons.  Here are a few of my goals for this upcoming week.      This Week's Goals Marriage, Mothering, & Family 1.  Eli is playing flag football this fall!  I'm excited to attend his game on Saturday. 2.  Eva has a therapy appointment this week.  I am so thankful for all of the incredible progress that she has made over the past year.   3.  Take both children to the park to play this week.   Homemaking 4.  Work on plans for Disney.  I need to work on our packing list and make some reservations.  I also need to purchase a number of items before we lea
