This Week's Goals & Recap

Happy Monday!  I hope your Monday is off to a great start.  I woke up to one of my kids with a fever and not feeling well.  That's just a good excuse to curl up and devour a large number of read aloud books this week!  I read half of an Imagination Station book just this morning.  Some of my goals will be adjusted depending on how long they are not feeling well.

Last Week's Goals
Last week was such a fun filled week!  I ended up crossing off a fair amount of goals and we even made a trip to Louisville for the KY State Fair.  The state fair is one of my favorite things every summer!
Marriage, Mothering, & Family
1.  Eli is playing flag football this fall!  I'm excited to attend his game on Saturday.  It was so fun to watch Eli in action on Saturday!  I teach piano lessons during Eli's practice times so this was my first time to see him play.
2.  Eva has a therapy appointment this week.  I am so thankful for all of the incredible progress that she has made over the past year.
3.  Take both children to the park to play this week.  We had a great time playing one afternoon and even met some new friends!

Homemaking
4.  Work on plans for Disney.  I need to work on our packing list and make some reservations.  I also need to purchase a number of items before we leave.  Eli & Eva both need new bigger shoes and socks.  We nailed down some plans and I made a few travel reservations.  We will be flying into Orlando the day before we go to Disney in order to maximize our time at the park.  Brandon purchased new clothes this weekend and I plan on ordering a number of things for myself.  I think I just need to buy gym shoes for both kids and we are ready to go.
5.  Spend at least one hour sewing on Evangeline's new dress.  I'm sewing a much requested Frozen dress for Eva using McCall's 7308.  This looks like a great pattern so I hope it turns out well.

Personal
6.  Visit the chiropractor.
7.  Read four chapters of Gospel Treason and continue working through the book of 1 Peter in the Bible.  I obviously wasn't actually familiar with the Gospel Treason book when I set the previous goal.  This book will take a lot of time to actually work through since there are many questions and personal applications to apply.  :)

Ministry & Friendships
9.  Meet up with a friend for coffee one afternoon.  I had a lovely time getting together at Panera with a new friend this past week.  I left feeling so encouraged after our time together.  She blessed my heart so much by her powerful testimony that was such great evidence to the Lord's great mercy.

This Week's Goals
Marriage, Mothering, & Family
1.  Attend the fair parade with the entire family.
2.  Eva has a therapy appointment this week.
3.  Enjoy an at-home date night or possibly a real date night.  I really want to go kayaking with Brandon but it is so warm outside!
4.  Spend extra time taking care of a sick child this week.

Homemaking
5.  Finish sewing Evangeline's dress.  I think I should definitely be able to finish sewing it in an hour.  I just need to finish the arm holes and the hem.  One of the ways that I fit some of my hobbies into an already very full life is to simply allocate a certain amount of time for them.  I might not be able to spend an hour sewing every day like I would like but I can definitely find ways to squeeze in a fifteen minutes four days a week.  It helps to have a space where my sewing machine is set up and my space is organized.
6.  Purchase gym shoes for both children and order a number of things that I keep putting off because it takes time.

Personal
7.  Read 1 Peter five days this week.  If time permits I would like to read a chapter of Gospel Treason but Bible before books.
8.  Exercise three times this week.

Ministry & Friendships
9.  Spend at least an hour working on new piano music for church.  I'd like to come up with a list of songs to work on learning in the next month.  I usually start working on Christmas music sometime in September.

None Like Him: 10 Ways God is Different From Us by Jen Wilkin :  I'm quickly becoming quite the fan of Mrs. Jen Wilkin.  I've been working through her 1 Peter Bible Study this summer and I absolutely loved reading through this book on the attributes of God.  I found myself reminded of so many things and almost felt a sense of relief as I contemplated what God is like.  This book was a delight to read.  I love that there is now a book on God's attributes written especially for women.  Pure awesomeness!  I highly recommend this book for both new believers and those with years of experience.  I also think it would make a great book club book. The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian: This book is one that I have been wanting to read for years and I just never got around to it.  I am so glad that I finally took the time to read and pray through this book!  What better gift could I give my husband the past month than to spend time earnestly praying for him through a

Our First Tent Camping Experience

Earlier in June we embarked on a new adventure.  TENT CAMPING!   Two summers ago we enjoyed a wonderful time camping in a borrowed pop-up camper but this was our first experience sleeping in a tent as a family.  We loaded up our very full van and headed to Land Between the Lakes in Western Kentucky for a new adventure.  It was wonderful.   One of the neatest aspects of our trip was the fact that Nina & Poppy Steve (Brandon's parents) were able to meet up with us!  (They live a good 10 hours away from us so this was a real treat.)  We had so much spending time with them.  We stayed at  Hillman Ferry Campground  and I would definitely stay there again.   Hillman Ferry Campground has a lovely beach with an area roped off for swimming.  The kids enjoyed playing in the sand and I even took them swimming in the lake.  I have been swimming many times in a lake but I think this was my children's first real time swimming in a lake.  (The closest lake to us no longer

This Week's Goals

We have been so blessed to fill our August with such fun family memories. In the picture above we enjoyed a day trip to the Columbus Zoo where we got to get up close with some kangaroos!   August has been so busy for our family that I've neglected to share my goals the past few weeks.  We've been squeezing in lots of summer fun as we transition back to school days.  I also began teaching fall piano lessons.  Here are a few of my goals for this upcoming week.      This Week's Goals Marriage, Mothering, & Family 1.  Eli is playing flag football this fall!  I'm excited to attend his game on Saturday. 2.  Eva has a therapy appointment this week.  I am so thankful for all of the incredible progress that she has made over the past year.   3.  Take both children to the park to play this week.   Homemaking 4.  Work on plans for Disney.  I need to work on our packing list and make some reservations.  I also need to purchase a number of items before we lea
