This Week's Goals

Last week I found Eva saying, "Mom help.  I stuck."  It was just too funny not to take a picture.
We start school again this week.  Our Christmas break has been absolutely wonderful.  I am so thankful for the many memories that were made and the joyous celebration that we enjoyed celebrating the birth of Christ.  Now the time has come to think about putting away our decorations and resuming our usual routines.  Evangeline also resumes therapy this week.

Last Week's Goals:

Marriage, Mothering, & Family
1.  Plan a fun at home date for New Year's Eve.  With young children in our home we honestly enjoy spending the evening at home much better than a late night out.  I'd love your suggestions for our celebration at home.  We ended up enjoying a nice time at my parent's house after a day of van shopping.
2.  Whisk the family off on a Day Trip to Columbus, OH.  We are looking forward to visiting COSI while we are there and possibly the Topiary Park depending on the weather.  We had an absolute blast at COSI (a science center in Columbus) and a lovely dinner at a German restaurant.
3.  Continue to enjoy Christmas with my family this week.  I'm hoping to finish reading The Nutcracker, and make candy or cookies with the children.

Personal
4.  Finish reading Professionalizing Motherhood.   I will be finishing the book this week.
5.  Workout three times.  I would also like to take advantage of the kids being on break (from both schoolwork and therapy) to head to our gym at least once.  We bought Evangeline a new bathing suit for Christmas and she keeps begging to go to the pool.   I fit in two great workouts this week.  Monday night we all headed to the gym.  The happy hubby and I had a great time working out and talking to one another.  We also took the children swimming for about 30 minutes!

Homemaking
6.  Sew a birthday gift for my sister-in-law Amber.
7.  Get rid of 50 items in 50 minutes!  Want to join me this week in this area?  The plan is to set the timer for 50 minutes and quickly find 50 items that no longer need to live at my home.  These items will be passed onto family, friends, or dropped off at the care mission.  I'll be stopping by the care mission tomorrow to drop off items.
8.  Write a letter in order to straighten out an insurance mistake.  I also spent about an hour making annoying phone calls and setting up various appointments.

Ministry & Friendships
9.  Visit my dear friend Sarah who has been one of my best friends since I was a little girl.  She is on bed rest right now and I'm hoping to bring her some cheer.  Last week I was blessed to spend time with two other dear friends from my teenage years.  I'm so thankful that we are such good friends after all these years.  We enjoyed the museum with one friend and the Festival of Lights at the zoo with the other.  My friend was unavailable for a visit last week but I'm still hopeful to see her soon!

Business
10.  Work on advertisement for my tutoring and piano business.  I'm so excited to begin teaching piano lessons and offering tutoring again.  Due to Evangeline's health concerns I took last semester completely off.  Please help spread the word!  I made a flyer for piano lessons and even hung one up at the local library!  I have a few more places that I would like to post flyers around town.  I also posted an ad on Craigslist.

This Week's Goals

Marriage, Mothering, & Family
1. Attend 4 therapy sessions with Evangeline.  (We have two occupational therapy appointments and two speech therapy appointments.  They all work together on Eva's feeding therapy.)
2.  Write a love letter to my husband.
3.  Enjoy a fun activity with Elijah of his choice.  I'm interested to see what he will choose!

Homemaking
4.  Begin a new sewing project for one of the children.
5.  Pack up Christmas tree and decorations.
6.  Write five thank you notes.

Personal
7.  Continue reading Hearing Jesus Speak Into Your Sorrow by Nancy Guthrie.
8.  Visit the chiropractor.

Ministry & Friendships
9.  Enjoy a weekend visit from a friend who lives out of town.  I simply can't wait!  I'm looking forward to catching up in person, watching movies, and possibly some crafting.  It is always such a treat to have friends visit especially when they live out of town.

Other:
10.  Write an update on Evangeline's health concerns.

What goals do you have for this week?

None Like Him: 10 Ways God is Different From Us by Jen Wilkin :  I'm quickly becoming quite the fan of Mrs. Jen Wilkin.  I've been working through her 1 Peter Bible Study this summer and I absolutely loved reading through this book on the attributes of God.  I found myself reminded of so many things and almost felt a sense of relief as I contemplated what God is like.  This book was a delight to read.  I love that there is now a book on God's attributes written especially for women.  Pure awesomeness!  I highly recommend this book for both new believers and those with years of experience.  I also think it would make a great book club book. The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian: This book is one that I have been wanting to read for years and I just never got around to it.  I am so glad that I finally took the time to read and pray through this book!  What better gift could I give my husband the past month than to spend time earnestly praying for him through a

Our First Tent Camping Experience

Earlier in June we embarked on a new adventure.  TENT CAMPING!   Two summers ago we enjoyed a wonderful time camping in a borrowed pop-up camper but this was our first experience sleeping in a tent as a family.  We loaded up our very full van and headed to Land Between the Lakes in Western Kentucky for a new adventure.  It was wonderful.   One of the neatest aspects of our trip was the fact that Nina & Poppy Steve (Brandon's parents) were able to meet up with us!  (They live a good 10 hours away from us so this was a real treat.)  We had so much spending time with them.  We stayed at  Hillman Ferry Campground  and I would definitely stay there again.   Hillman Ferry Campground has a lovely beach with an area roped off for swimming.  The kids enjoyed playing in the sand and I even took them swimming in the lake.  I have been swimming many times in a lake but I think this was my children's first real time swimming in a lake.  (The closest lake to us no longer

In the picture above we enjoyed a day trip to the Columbus Zoo where we got to get up close with some kangaroos!   August has been so busy for our family that I've neglected to share my goals the past few weeks.  We've been squeezing in lots of summer fun as we transition back to school days.  I also began teaching fall piano lessons.  Here are a few of my goals for this upcoming week.      This Week's Goals Marriage, Mothering, & Family 1.  Eli is playing flag football this fall!  I'm excited to attend his game on Saturday. 2.  Eva has a therapy appointment this week.  I am so thankful for all of the incredible progress that she has made over the past year.   3.  Take both children to the park to play this week.   Homemaking 4.  Work on plans for Disney.  I need to work on our packing list and make some reservations.  I also need to purchase a number of items before we lea
