Simple DIY Decor Katelyn & I made for the shower.
Guess what, guess what?  I'm getting another sister since my brother is getting married in May.  This afternoon I threw my first bridal shower in her honor.  It was a lot of work but also a tons of fun.  I am so thankful that we were able to bless our soon to be sister in this way.
We kept the decorations fairly simple.  My sister Katelyn & I made the chevron banner (the wedding date) using my Cricut.  (We copied a banner that I found on pintrest that was similar.)  I painted an 11 x 14 flat canvas with two coats of purple.  Then I attached the F that I purchased at Michael's.  I had originally planned on using my cricut and just cutting vinyl but I really enjoyed the 3D effect.

I decided to make a pin for Amber using a pre-made burlap pin.  (I attended a baby shower in February and totally copied the idea here.)  I cut out 2 frames and stamped the word "bride" on it.  Then I attached 6 strips of ribbon to the back.  This was easy and turned out nice.

The Front Door
Thankfully I was able to borrow many decorations from a friend who had the same wedding color scheme.  For the door we attached a bouquet of silk flowers to a bunch of leftover tulle with ribbon.  I'm always kind of timid when approaching a stranger's house for the first time for a shower.  I wanted to have something that screamed "bridal shower" on the door so guests knew they were at the right home.

We enjoyed playing the clothespin game (no one could cross their legs or say the bride's name), a word scramble, and toilet paper bridal fashion show.

Dessert Table
For desserts we served muffin cookies (cookies cooked in a muffin tin), lemon cupcakes, vanilla cupcakes, and brownies.  For drinks we served sweet tea (of course), pineapple punch, and water.  We drank from mason jars and I did purchase striped paper straws.

Both the lace tablecloth and purple underlay were borrowed.  The table runner is just purple fabric that I folded since I ran out of time to make an actual table runner.
We tried to keep the food simple and served: chicken salad, pimento cheese, rolls, croissants, a cheese ball, cheese tray, veggie tray, and fruit tray.

Cupcake Wedding Dress in Progress

After seeing a similar cupcake wedding dress on pintrest I knew I wanted to try my hand at it.  I was pleased with how it turned out.

I am so glad that we were able to celebrate Amber's upcoming marriage with family and a few of her close friends.  What a treat to welcome someone else into our family.  Amber is such a sweetheart!

Wow, Amanda! Thoroughly impressed...you are one gifted lady! The wedding dress cupcake arrangement couldn't have been cuter - love! Beautiful shower ::: ~Sarah
ReplyDeleteThank you Sarah. It was a lot of fun to throw a shower-my first one! (I am confident you could definitely make the cupcake wedding dress!) I'm even more excited to have Amber joining our family. :)
ReplyDeleteCup-cake wedding dress is out of the world, just fantastic! I have also booked a beautiful event venue Atlanta for my wedding day. My friends have also planned a bridal shower for me. I am just so excited to see how everything is being done that day.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much! It was actually quite simple to do. I'm thinking I may try something similar for my daughter's birthday this year. She is very into princesses and dresses!
DeleteBest Wishes on your upcoming wedding.
